o Visit an elderly person (unrelated) at a nursing home over the summer biweekly.
o With the consent of your Grandfriend and your parents, gather information and stories from your Grandfriend over your visits. (Check it out: suggested interview questions.)You might want to take photos, audio, or video recordings – download and complete the consent forms to do so.
o In the form of a creative work, answer any/all of the following questions: (1) What were your favorite moments with your Grandfriend? (2) What was the most important lesson that your Grandfriend taught you? (3) What obstacles in communication did you and your Grandfriend face, and how did you overcome them? The format of the work is completely up to you.
Suggestions: brief video (3 minute max), poster, comic strip, short narrative (1-2 pages), journal, or scrapbook.
o Complete the GEN2GENS Service Award form, which includes the total number of hours spent visiting your Grandfriend, the number of visits, the signature of the nursing home’s Activities Director (or other administrator), and a log of each visit.
Submit all materials to Ms Maher, Benjamin Franklin High School Room 233, during the fall semester.
